Blurred At Blur !
------------------
With the increasing interest in Indie music and so called 'Manchester
Music',I went to a BLUR gig that was on recently here in Dublin, with my
notepad and sharpened pencil,to take notes for Amnesia.Yes your intrepid
reporter is always on the spot ready to report back to you all with the
latest trends in music, movies and other shtuff.Ok,ok,so I actually went
cause I liked their song,"There's No Other Way".
Unfortunetly this report is going to be a bit short as your brave
reporter got a little bit too drunk and ended up listening to a few songs
whilst watching the ceiling spin from a toilet floor.Ahhh red wine when
you're drunk, sure doesn't sober you up,but does make ugly women look good.
(Bummer).
Myself and two mates stumbled into McGonagles,(the place the gig was on),
and camped out at the bar, whilst listening to the support act.Who were the
support act ???? God only knows...we sure didn't,sorry guys but there was a
good half hours drinking before Blur came on stage, and I was still able to
stand at this point in time.I don't normally drink myself into
oblivion, especially when I'm going out to something, its just that something
had happened earlier, which had caused me to start drinking at four that
afternoon.....bad move !
OK,enough of the stories of wine,women and song.The gig.Firstly I love
music, and I love it loud, but when they crank the PA into the sky so that you
can't actually make out what you're listening to,thats a bummer.Ok,ok so it
didn't really matter as every-one was just jumping about anyway and
generally having a funky existence. But it is nice to make out some words and
attempt to shout along.Speaking of which I liked the lead singers,(I think
his name is Damien),use of a loud speaker aimed into the microphone...yeah !
Basically the music was your typical indie/Manchester music but hey,so what
I loved it.As did everyone else I interviewed afterwards,
"Fuckin' brilliant wasn't it",I slur,
"Fuckin' right",replies some-one I could barely make out due to a slight
inability to focus.
One part that really impressed me was when the lead singer clambered up
on top of a large speaker and hung out of the roof, then pulled himself up so
that he was hanging upside down like spiderman from the ceiling, still
singing.....coolness !
Anyway to sum,the gig was great, and from what I've heard of these guys
and the stuff I could make out at the gig, their album is worth checking out.
So what more can I say than,
"There's No Other Way !!!"
ZED.
